Some common sense advice

from Common Sense Girl
...on sex before marriage.

This is a hot topic with opinions I have heard tending more & more hysterical the more 'religious' a person is.

Over at CommonSenseGirl I've found some straight-forward, common sense, thoughtful advise (what you'd expect really!)

Check it out if you're interested.

Rose: have survived some serious flare days. Hubby home sick too. Not too sure how we'll survive today, but here goes....

I'm a real housewife now! =)

Wednesday, January 19, 2011
This was my breakfast this morning:

That's right, fresh cut bread and home-made apricot jam. YUM!

I feel like a proper housewife because this week I made apricot jam (jelly for the Americans among us). It really is simple, just 1kg sugar to 1kg fruit then cook slowly on low heat. It just takes *hours*. For some reason though, jam to me is the measure of success as a housewife. I just feel so 'proper' standing in an apron & stirring. Why? I have no idea. We really don't eat jam that much (unless it's apricot!). And surely success as a housewife would be measured by what? a happy husband? a comfy home? Doing the best I can? Hmm... Will have to think about that more.

Unfortunately I have been flaring since I made it. :( The Prince woke me up this morning by putting a piece of bread-&-jam under my nose until I worked out what it was & woke up to eat it! Pretty good wakeup I reckon!

So what's your greatest success? What makes you feel like you're succeeding?

Self care

I wish I had written this post.

As I'm still really really sick I'm very much into self care at the moment! =)

Spoonie logo

Hello all,

short & sweet today because I'm flaring. I don't know what you call it but last night I was "shattered". When every single nerve is making its unhappiness known. When I need to be carried to bed. So I have rested today.

I think we should have a spoonie logo or button or something. So we can all identify each other. There's the fb & twitter twibbon, but I'd like something bigger. So I have found some lovely photos of spoons, all from weheartit.com. Let me know which ones you like!

Spoons are not all they're quacked up to be? (sorry, I had to)

<3 wooden spoons!

Wish I had a spoon this big!

New Years Resolutions

Tuesday, January 11, 2011

I spent this New Year's house-sitting in St Kilda. We were surrounded by lots of Russian Orthodox Jews. Think Fiddler on the Roof. It was very interesting to see a little of their observation of the sabbath.

It made me think. I don't really observe the sabbath at all. However, the 4th of the ten commandments is about the sabbath: possibly important to God?

So this year's resolution is to research sabbath rest. Have any suggestions of where I should start?

Rose: great sermon on Sabbath rest from our church on Sunday. Actually managed to get up for the 9.30 start. (we were only 20 mins late....)

Christmas cooking win!

This Christmas we decided to make some gingerbread cookies for our friends and neighbours. A nice, cheap present. (I was about to type 'easy' just then, but it definitely wasn't easy!) The Prince had to help me roll out the gingerbread because it was hard from being in the fridge, but here's the finished product!

And yes, that is a mince pie dipped in icing at the back of the photo! I blame the Prince!

All wrapped up:

See, I can cook, sometimes! Now if only I could think of something for dinner...

Rose: A Christmas that wasn't too expensive! We put spending limits on our presents, and came out very well in the end I think.
